Above our front door at Squerryes Court sits the family motto: Licet Esse Beatis, which means: ‘it’s permitted to be joyful’. Today we say we’re in the business of creating joy.
It has been the spirit of the 2,500 acre Squerryes estate for 300 years, influencing all we do, from bottling that joy in the form of fine vintage sparkling wine, to the places we have created for people to enjoy the simple pleasures of life through delicious food and wine or the spaces to hire, to celebrate those special moments with friends and family.
Whatever it is that brings you to Squerryes, our priority is to make sure you take with you a memory that has our stamp on it; enjoyment and pleasure.
Discover sweet and savoury treats for every occasion, a cheese counter stocked with British cheeses from Neal's Yard of Borough Market, the best selection of English still wines from the region and an array of locally made and seasonal foods from some very special artisan producers.
High on the North Downs in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, sits our chalk-rich vineyard. At 150 metres above sea-level we are 1 degree Celsius cooler than most other vineyards in the south-east of England giving us a long cool summer.
Our vines flourish in this longer growing season, producing fruit that has the perfect balance of natural sweetness and acidity. And it is only this fruit that we use in the making of our English sparkling wine.
While our vines are dormant, visit us in The Cellar Door for one of our informative tutored tastings with our wine experience ambassador Suzy Ioannides.
Start your tasting with a glass of our latest release house Brut, followed by your charcuterie and cheese board or local meats and cheeses. After you have had time to enjoy your wine and food Suzy will commence a tutored tasting of 3 more of our premium sparkling wines.
During your tasting you will learn about the 300 year old Squerryes estate, the fascinating history of the spirit of our house, and the story of how a disagreement with a French Champagne House led to the Warde family planting vines on the North Downs at the Gateway to the Garden of England.
Having learnt about the spirit of our terroir, you'll discover more about what makes us so well placed to make exceptional, award winning sparkling wine in a tutored tasting of 3 of our vintage sparkling wines, the ever popular Rosé, our foodie’s favourite the Blanc de Blancs, and our 10 year old 2013 Late Disgorged Brut.
