Since planting our first vines in 2006, we’ve been a growing family business, with roots to the land going back 7 generations. We pride ourselves on being a boutique English wine brand, producing vintage sparkling wine from fruit grown on our 2,500 acre estate, located high on the North Downs at the gateway to the Garden of England.

Our family motto, Licet Esse Beatis, is at the heart of all we do across the estate, to enjoy life’s simple pleasures with friends and family, through delicious food and wine. We also extend this philosophy to working with us. Our aim is to ensure you have a joyful, wonderful time working with us as much as we value having you as part of our team.

Squerryes Seasonal Tasting bar host and tour guide

We pride ourselves on our excellent hospitality and wine education for our guests and are looking for someone to join our team as a dedicated tour guide and tasting bar host to offer a high quality experience to customers.

‘Licet Esse Beatis’ sits above our front door at Squerryes Court. It means ‘permitted to be joyful’ and we have been in the business of creating joy for nearly 300 years.

We are a boutique English wine brand, producing vintage sparkling wine from fruit grown on our 2,500 acre Estate. Located high on the North Downs, our vines grow on a pure white chalk seam fed by a mineral rich aquifer nestled deep below the spiritual Pilgrim’s Way.

We released our first vintage in 2014 and launched our tours and tastings in 2019.

Job Title

Tasting bar host and tour guide

Summary of position

  • Hosting our weekly tours and tastings on site including:
  • Setting up for the tours before guests arrive, ensuring the tasting room is clean and prepped with stemware, water jugs, water glasses and wine.
  • Greeting guests on arrival and making them feel welcome and relaxed before the tour commences.
  • Providing engaging and entertaining tours within the vines followed by a tutored tasting.
  • Processing vouchers where necessary.
  • Clearing away stemware, and tidying after the tasting.
  • Hosting the Squerryes tasting bar. This will include serving drinks, giving guests the best Squerryes experience. Pairing Squerryes sparkling wine with confidence and sharing knowledge of the product and pairings.
  • Being responsible for keeping the tasting bar clean, tidy and fully stocked.
  • Assisting with drinks service on the evenings we have tasting menus. This will mainly be to deliver wine flights as a pairing for small dishes.
  • Helping in the Cellar door where necessary

Key attributes of successful candidate

  • We are looking for a committed, motivated and confident tour guide within a customer facing role who can join Squerryes winery working every Friday, Saturday and Sunday throughout the busy Summer period.
  • A good sense of humour and a great work ethic is key, as is an enjoyment in talking to customers.
  • As this role involves physical activity, we require someone who will be able to be on their feet for a large portion of the day, walking the vines, carrying equipment and wine, and be energetic doing so.
  • Being a dynamic industry we may ask you to help us on events throughout the year WSET level 2 or 3 preferred and an interest in English Wine.

On starting your role we will give you a full brand immersion at Squerryes to give you the confidence to fulfill this role.You will shadow our tours and tastings before hosting your own.Till and service training.
